Frequently asked questions
1. What if I don't know if my piece is worth appraising?
Let me examine your item, and we will decide together if you wish it appraised. There is no fee for this determination.
2. What about costume jewelry?
Most costume jewelry is inexpensive fashion, and most people prefer not to appraise or insure it. However, some costume jewelry has collector's value, and some costume jewelry in the current marketplace is fairly expensive and
worthy of being protected.
3. Should I insure all my jewelry?
Most clients pick a value, as an example $250. Jewelry valued less than $250 is not appraised or insured. Jewelry valued above $250 is appraised and insured. The value is yours to choose. Your homeowner's policy generally does not cover you for uninsured fairly inexpensive items, as you are required to pay a deductible before your insurance kicks in. Check with your insurance agent for additional limitations on coverage for uninsured jewelry.
